Contingency Analysis in Power System- Using UPFC and DVR Devices with RDOA

Contingency analysis has been considered as critical issue in power systems because it initiates failures transmission line and failure equipment. Hence, this paper is presented Red Deer Algorithm (RDA) to manage contingency condition for improving security of the system. The proposed algorithm utilized solve Optimal Power flow (OPF) with multi-objective functions. function consisting six single objective functions such loss, voltage deviation, fuel cost, Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) device installation severity index, congestion cost. In system, managed help FACTS devices Unified Flow Controller (UPFC) Dynamic restoration (DVR) respectively. optimal allocation UPFC DVR identified RDA algorithm. placement enhancing system security, reliable stability while conditions method implemented MATLAB, tested on IEEE 30 300 bus results are analyzed three scenario generator outage, outage overload condition. compared existing methods Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) Firefly (FA)
